My name is Aaron Del Mar - and I am proud to serve Palatine Township as your Highway Commissioner.
Being Highway Commissioner is a tremendous honor, one that I take with great responsibility and duty to find ways to make our community a little better.
I’ve been blessed to call Palatine Township home for the last 3 decades. It’s where I grew up - and it’s where I am lucky to be raising my 6 amazing kids.
I have learned over the years that being a parent and serving the community go hand-in-hand. As parents we are always working to make life better for our children – and truthfully the same applies to community and public service.
I understand family budgets are tight these days, and you know all too well homeowners are on the hook for some of the highest property taxes in the entire country.
It’s just not fair.
That is why as Highway Commissioner one of my first priorities was to implement a strict freeze on property taxes while lowering the tax levy by $125,000.
I plan to further reduce the tax levy by $500,000 over the next four years - while maintaining a superior level of services for residents.
The township is doing more than ever, with less from the taxpayer – including major capital improvements to our roadways and vital upgrades to our storm water infrastructure.
We are headed in the right direction, but more can be done.
I look forward to the work ahead and hope to earn your vote on Tuesday, April 6th.
